B/Net operates in a virtual office environment with a remote staff located around the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Some of our team members work at client sites full- or part-time and we meet with our clients in person on a regular basis.
Founder and President
Chris is the founder and president of B/Net Systems. A highly seasoned IT expert whose experience ranges from support services to systems administration, he oversees all aspects of the business. Chris most enjoys interacting with clients and performing hands on technical work.
Somewhat by chance, B/Net began in 1994 when the president of a trade association contacted Chris and asked him to fix their network problems. After resolving the issues, Chris discovered that he enjoys the combination of technical challenges, client interaction, and entrepreneurial efforts. Success in that first job eventually led to the founding of B/Net and the business started to grow by word of mouth. The company has grown organically by referrals ever since and that first client is still a happy B/Net client! In 1998, Chris brought on another technician to help with the workload. Eventually B/Net grew to a size that required a more formal structure and additional staff, which is why Chris dedicated himself to B/Net on a full-time basis starting in 2013.
Chris held a variety of engineering, software development, and management positions in corporate IT departments. His IT experience includes help desk, hardware builds, system administration, IT team management, software development and management, database administration management, and data center infrastructure management. He was responsible for IT at two major trade associations in Washington, DC and was the Director of Technology for the only authorized distributor in the United States of music royalties for Internet-streamed music. Direct, hands-on experience gives Chris a deep understanding of what we do from the inside out. With this expertise, he has helped a range of organizations improve their operational efficiency through effective use of technology, IT assessments, and strategic IT planning. In addition, Chris completed graduate level work in computer science, including courses in operating systems, networking, software design, and artificial intelligence.
Chris enjoys the practical application of technology: learning about clients' business needs and using technology to improve client processes. He lives in Annapolis, MD with his wife and two children, and likes to spend his free time on long bike rides, playing electric bass, and sailing.
Volkan has held a number of IT positions in his 16-year career and is B/Net’s chief engineer. His areas of expertise include system administration; network administration; virtualization, including Hyper-V and VMware; and LAN and WAN configuration and troubleshooting. He is also highly experienced in administering cloud-based systems. Volkan leads all Office 365 migrations and administration for our clients, including hosted Exchange and SharePoint. In addition to his core technical competencies, Volkan performs client manager responsibilities and provides outstanding customer care.
Before joining B/Net in 2007, Volkan was a graduate student at The George Washington University where he completed his Master of Science degree in telecommunications engineering.
In his spare time, Volkan loves living life on 2 wheels (aka he is an avid motorcyclist!) and he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, especially sailing and camping.
Darrell leads B/Net's Virtual CIO (vCIO) practice and the client support team, including help desk services. He collaborates with and advises B/Net clients on IT strategy, budget, and policy, and delivers technical solutions to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Darrell also provides project management services, consults with clients on cybersecurity, policy and governance, and performs cybersecurity awareness training services for clients.
Darrell has over 30 years of Information Technology management experience. He was recently the lead Information Technology executive at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) where he served the broadcasting industry for over twenty years. He has also worked at several multi-million dollar organizations in a variety of industries, playing an instrumental and strategic role. Darrell has held leadership roles and worked with The United States Air Force, Hughes Hubbard and Reed, Andersen Consulting (Accenture), Watson Wyatt Worldwide, and the National Association of Broadcasters. He led at key times in the evolution of those organizations to help evaluate and restructure their internal technology operations, provide strategic and budget planning, establish operating policies and procedures, and develop revenue streams.
Darrell is a United States Air Force veteran and continues to participate in activities which provide fund raising support for the Wounded Warrior and Wounded Airman programs. He is an avid cyclist and loves the outdoors. Darrell and his wife Marianne live in Annapolis Maryland. They have one daughter, Abigail.
Client Manager and Operations ManagerPam joined B/Net in 2017 as a client manager and operations manager. Her key areas of expertise are project management, client management, market research, business development, program evaluation, and process improvement. In her client manager role, Pam primarily serves as liaison between clients, vendors, and the B/Net technical team to efficiently achieve clients’ IT goals. As B/Net’s operations manager, Pam leads corporate initiatives and oversees business process improvements to streamline, standardize, and improve team productivity and client care.
Before beginning her IT adventure, Pam worked in consulting for fourteen years for government and commercial organizations in the aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and international trade industries. Pam has performed market-, industry-, and economic- studies for government clients including NASA, FAA, DOC, NIH and USAF and for commercial companies, such as prominent satellite operators and manufacturers of launch vehicles and satellites. She has six years of project management experience. In addition, she has served in leadership roles and directed projects for several non-profits, applying her expertise in project management, team oversight, volunteer management, client relations, program planning and evaluation, and communications.
Pam lives in Kensington, MD with her husband and twin sons. She enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, hiking, and has most recently taken up women’s ice hockey.
Technical Support Services Representative
Aloys has 22 years of professional IT experience. He has a solid technical background, excellent customer service skills, integrity, and a passion for IT. His areas of specialty cover desktop support (Windows and Mac clients), local area network installation and support, and application support for real time data transfer. In addition, Aloys has experience with the installation of and support for custom membership databases, such as Broadway, IMIS and Aptify. He possesses a wide range of other IT skills, including Office 365 administration and Active Directory management. After working as in-house IT staff for the National Association of Broadcasters for 16 years, Aloys joined B/Net in April 2016 as a system engineer and help desk representative.
Aloys lives in Beltsville, MD with his wife Cathy and son Faison. In his free time, he enjoys cheering at Faison's basketball practice and tournaments. He also passionately follows the English premier league soccer in support of his favorite team--Manchester United.
Technical Support Services Representative
Victor has been in the Information Technology consulting field for 10 years. His primary duties for B/Net involve client support, providing professional recommendations and assisting clients with technical solutions. Victor also provides system administration as well as end user support on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Mac OS and serves as a primary technician for B/Net clients. In addition to his IT consulting career, he has worked in various other areas, including five years as a cyber security analyst fixing systems in the U.S. government environment. Victor earned a B.S in Information Systems from Towson University.
Victor enjoys fishing as a sport and spending time with his family and friends. He is talented at playing the alto saxophone and enjoys playing Jazz.
Technical Support Services Representative
Manuel is a results-oriented IT professional with over 25 years of extensive hands-on experience in telecommunications, network design, systems administration, management, security, support services, and software deployment. His experience developed across a variety of industries, including associations, financial services, health care, telecommunications, government, and consulting.
Manuel started working for B/Net as an IT consultant in 2016 and became a full-time staff in December 2019. His technical work focuses on migrating clients to the O365 cloud and assisting users with day-to-day MS office and other tools support. Manuel provides Tier 1 and 2 network, hardware and software support. He implements and administers networking and IP-based telephony systems, implements and administers Windows Servers, deploys and configures client VPNs, deploys, configures and maintains DNS servers, MS Exchange servers and Office 365.
Manuel lives in Fairfax, Virginia with his family. He is originally from Argentina where he grew up playing a lot of soccer and rugby. He enjoys socializing with friends, listening to good music, trips to the beach or the mountains and playing sports.
Technical Support Services Representative
Shariyf joined our technical team in March 2020. He is an accomplished information technology professional with over 10 years of extensive and diverse technical experience in the IT field. In his professional career, Shariyf has provided technical support to a large spectrum of clients and resolved issues ranging from simple desktop support to complex server and network infrastructure issues. His primary work at B/Net focuses on system security, troubleshooting PC and network issues, and resolving day-to-day client IT support needs. Shariyf’s professional certifications include: CAP (Certified Authorization Professional) 2020, MCSA OFFICE 365, MCSE Server 2012, MCTS Server 2008, A+ Certification.
Shariyf enjoys spending time with his family, playing the violin, listening to music, traveling, playing basketball, tennis, and chess.
Financial Analyst and Technical Specialist
Casey is a financial analyst and technical specialist for B/Net. He works closely with the president to develop successful strategies that match IT needs with business goals. He also assists with the monthly bookkeeping and financial monitoring of B/Net and its clients. Casey serves as the point person for the automated mobile device management installation and application and is a key architect in creating our new client onboarding blueprint and implementation. In addition to these roles, Casey assists with special projects and supports our on-site technicians as needed. With a blend of financial expertise and IT savvy, Casey provides clients with a unique perspective to see their business from all angles.
After obtaining a B.S.M. in Finance and Management from Tulane University, Casey earned a M.P.S. in Technology Management from Georgetown University. Casey worked at B/Net Systems as an intern while finishing his degree from Georgetown and began his current position upon graduation.
A native of Washington D.C., Casey lives in the district with his wife and son.
Executive AssistantTerri has worked as a virtual executive assistant for B/Net since 2015. In this role, Terri primarily obtains quotes for products and services and executes purchases from start to finish, manages our clients' subscriptions and license renewals, and gathers and organizes financial documents. Before joining B/Net, Terri worked in marketing for 30 years, helping small- and medium-sized companies develop marketing strategies and implement marketing plans. She continues to help entrepreneurs get online with websites and marketing communications, selling products and devising strategies for their online marketing efforts.
Terri lives in Arizona with her husband, six grandchildren and four small rescue dogs. She enjoys a good mystery, a great cup of coffee, supporting her husband's music career, and is a life-long Washington Redskins fan.
